Independence Day Events!
Sylvania celebrates Independence Day with two days of festivities!
July 3 – Star-Spangled Celebration
Location: Centennial Terrace & Sylvania Pacesetter Park
Time: Gates open at 6:00 PM; live music begins at 7:00 PM; fireworks light up the sky at 10:00 PM
Activities:
- Live music performance by the band 56 Daze,
- Food trucks, on-site concessions
- Family-friendly activities.
Admission: Tickets at Centennial Terrace are generally $7 for adults (12+), $5 for children (under 11), and free for active military. You can also view the fireworks for free from the adjacent Pacesetter Park or nearby roadside spots.
Downtown Connection: Red Bird District hosts an all-day Red, White and Brew Red Bird First Friday leading into the evening's fireworks.

July 4 – 1976 Time Capsule Unveiling & Picnic
Location: Burnham Park (Gazebo area near the Historic Lathrop House)
Time: 10:00 AM onwards
Activities:
- A traditional community reading of the Declaration of Independence
- Opening of a historical time capsule buried on July 4, 1976. You will also have the opportunity to add new items to a modern time capsule for future generations.
- The community is invited to pack personal picnics and hang out in the park.
